Week 4 – More the Story
SERMON & DIGITAL BULLETIN 02 July 2023, 10:30 a.m.
Today @EagleLifeChurch, we continue our summer sermon series, “More to the Story.”
In this 13-week sermon series, you will learn the message behind the parables of Jesus in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. We will read one of Jesus’ parables each week, consider its context, and apply the lesson to our lives.
And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables. 11 And he said to them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, 12 so that
“ ‘they may indeed see but not perceive,
Mark 4:10-12 (ESV)
and may indeed hear but not understand,
lest they should turn and be forgiven.’ ”
In today’s message, we dig through the parable of the treasure hidden in a field, the pearl of great value, and the parable of the net to find out what it means to give everything for the Kingdom.
This story asks the question, “Will You Sell it All?”

Will You Sell It All?
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 13:44-50 (ESV)
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, 46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Matthew 13:44-46 (ESV, emphasis added)
- Finding the Treasure
- The Already, but Not Yet Treasure
- The Joy of Selling it All
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. 48 When it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into containers but threw away the bad. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:47-50 (ESV, emphasis added)
