Water Baptism

Water Baptism is a way for a follower of Jesus to publicly and symbolically celebrate what God has done for you.  It’s a declaration of Jesus’ death and resurrection for you, and of your death to the old life and resurrection into the new life of the Spirit.  In Galatians 2:20, Romans 6, and Matthew 3 of the Bible, you can read about this unique spiritual act.  Scripture teaches us that we are united to Christ in his death through water baptism.

The word baptism is similar to the word for dipping in a dye.  The garment dipped in a dye takes on the color of the dye.  In the same way, the believer who is baptized takes on the life of Christ in a symbolic and meaningful celebration.

Many people experience a deeply spiritual breakthrough at baptism.  Others find deep meaning in declaring before their family and friends that they are sincere in their new life following Christ.

At Eagle LifeChurch, we baptize believers as followers of Jesus Christ, as taught in Matthew 28:19.  You are not baptized into the membership of this local church, but into the global Church of Jesus Christ, which is not a denomination, or religion, but a brotherhood of all those who follow Him.  Unless impossible for health or other reasons, we baptize by total immersion.  This means that you will be put completely underwater in our baptismal.  Please plan to empty your pockets, and bring a towel and change of clothes with you to service.
