Put Away Your Sword | Abide: Live Like Jesus 24

March 8, 2015 by Brad Murphy

What kind of tree are you?  Are you and orange tree? Apple tree? Banana tree?

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
– John 15:4 (ESV)

You know a tree by it’s fruit.

Abide in me!  This summarizes the final teachings of Jesus in his last few hours on earth.

As we continue to study the book of John on Sunday mornings, we have transitioned into Jesus teaching on his enduring presence.  As we live in his Spirit we will bear his fruit.

In this message from John 18, Pastor Brad encourages us to stop fighting other people with earthly weapons when we face spiritual attacks.  Our enemy is not a flesh and blood enemy.  It’s time to take up our spiritual armor and fight the spiritual battle for our marriages, our money, and our repeated mistakes.

Follow along with the outline: Put Away Your Sword

  1. Your enemy knows where to find you.
  2. Your enemy often looks like the other people but your enemy is a spiritual enemy.
  3. Your enemy is not defeated by your own sword.
