Right Now
By Brad Murphy, Lead Pastor Eagle LifeChurch
As I’ve been on this journey of becoming and now being a Lead Pastor, there are several things that God has been speaking to me about. One of them is to be here, right now. Here are some examples of what God has been saying to me.
Paul encourages Timothy to:
“…be prepared in season and out of season…” 2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV)
Mordecai persuades Esther to stop the genocide by saying:
“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 (ESV)
There is this bit of wisdom from the writer of Ecclesiastes:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
And finally Jesus tells us:
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
Why can’t I pray, right now? Why can’t I call that person, right now? Why can’t I give my children my attention, right now? Why can’t I be here, where I am, right now?
There is always an excuse to put something off until later. I understand prioritizing, but I have discovered that I will get a lot more done if I just do what I need to do, right now. I’m focusing on removing distractions, clearing my mind of worry, and being wherever I am, right now.
Try it today for yourself and see what God can do through you, right now.
