No Religious Expectations

January 28, 2014 by Brad Murphy

This entry is part 3 of 4 in the series Foc|US: Vision for Life

Light the Way.

God has given us a vision to build a community of faith, who follow Jesus and tend to the mission of God: Light the Way, Learn the Truth, Love the Life.

This week Pastor John, asks is the church a Country Club or Hospital.  As he teaches from Luke 6, we uncover one of Jesus stiffest enemies, RELIGION.  As a church family, one of our values is to eliminate religious expectations and encourage grace in Jesus Christ.

No Religious Expectations

  • The title, “Christian,” has come to describe either a religion or a product, that marketing executives are trying to sell.  Christ did not come to start a religion or a business.  Therefore, Eagle LifeChurch is not marketing a religion.   Our goal is to shine the spotlight on Jesus Christ, who initiated a relational, incarnation, movement of grace and servant love.
  • Study it! Matthew 23; Mark 7:1-23; Mark 12:38-20 & Luke 20:45-47; Matthew 6:1-18; Hebrews 4:14-5:1

This entry is part 2 of 4 in the series Foc|US: Vision for Life

Everyone is Welcome.

God has given us a vision to build a community of faith, who follow Jesus and tend to the mission of God.

The first declaration of this vision is Light the Way.  In this week’s message Pastor Brad, encourages each of us to light the way by making sure that everyone is welcome.

  • God’s Word and His Spirit have the power to transform any life, we expect this to happen for the most hopeless in our community.  We will bring all people to Him: any age, any race, any gender, and any amount of brokenness.  No matter the hurt, mistakes, or sin in the past, it is never too late for God to make you new.
  • Study it! Isaiah 61 & Luke 4:16-22; Luke 5:27-32 & Mark 2:13-17; Luke 7:31-50 & Matthew 11:16-19; Luke 15:11-32

Why is LifeChurch one word?

This vision requires each of us who attend Eagle LifeChurch to integrate our faith and our daily living: life and church.  Thus Eagle LifeChurch.

In this message, Pastor Brad lays out the Mission of God, His Commission for the Church, and His Great Commandment for every believer.

Be encouraged to join a community of faith like Eagle LifeChurch and see God fulfill His mission through you.

Jesus Compassion

January 2, 2014 by Brad Murphy

This entry is part 7 of 7 in the series That Christmas Feeling

Don’t you love the feeling of Christmas?

Cheer, wonder, excitement, generosity.

This year, our whole church, will be taking a journey through the feelings of the First Christmas through the Eyes of those who were there.  Our children will be having their own special experience at LifeKids, in Professor Playtime’s Christmas Shop of Wonders.

Jesus Compassion: ReMoving the Mess

The days following Christmas are often the messiest.  The tree branches droop, the water in the stand is rotten.  The living room floor is covered in wrapping paper and torn packages.  The kitchen is full of dirty dishes, and the counters covered in flour and other debris.

The first Christmas probably wasn’t as silent and picturesque as our nativities and carols imply.  Jesus came into a messy situation.  His was an unplanned pregnancy that nearly led to divorce.  His poor parents had to make an unexpected trip at the time she was about to deliver.  He was born in a dirty manger, received ominous prophesies, and was nearly executed by a homicidal king, but escaped to Egypt just in time.

This description may sound similar to your family or life, but the good news is Jesus isn’t afraid of your mess.

This week we look at the life of King David, and how to allow Jesus to ReMove the Mess:

  • How a Mess Grows
  • Recognizing We are in a Mess
  • Repenting of our Mess
  • Jesus Replaces our Mess

From Mess to Masterpiece

You will be encouraged to give Jesus your mess and accept his mercy and grace in it’s place, as he chisels your life to become his great masterpiece.
