Building Faith 2021

September 25, 2020 by Brad Murphy

GIVE TO BUILDING FAITH

In March of 2020, our Membership voted unanimously to empower the Deacon Board to proceed with the IMAGINE2020 plan launched in 2018 to refinance our existing mortgage and secure a remodel loan up to $100,000 and add an additional $50,000 cash.

Here is an update on how God is helping us accomplish this amazing objective.

GOALS

The goal of the refinance is to save the church money long term and position us for a brighter financial future

Our goal is to renovate our church building to provide a more welcoming and friendly facility for first-time guests, families, and the fellowship of the church family.

Remodel Master Plan

We plan to fully convert the Fireside Room into a multi-purpose studio for kids, youth, and adult ministries.

Project – Fireside Studio

We plan to fully convert the Fireside Room into a multi-purpose studio for kids, youth, and adult ministries.

Project – Lobby

We will renovate the hallway at the entry of the building by making an open-concept lobby.

Project – Mother’s Room

We will convert the old office into a new Mother’s Room.

Project – Worship Center (Stage / Media Booth)

We will paint and re-floor the Worship Center. We will renovate the stage and build an enclosed media booth.

Project – Offices

We will relocate the office upstairs where we can have two offices.

Project – Signs

We will replace the sign on the corner of Park & Floating Feather, and put a new sign on the building.

FINANCING

Actual construction costs may make all or some of the goals possible.  We are currently accepting bids. We will see a savings of almost $300,000 with this plan.

We expect to begin construction this Spring and have a goal to be finished in Summer 2021.

Current Mortgage:

  • Loan Amount:
    • Original: $533,000
    • Remaining: $471,320
  • Interest Rate: 7.750%
  • Monthly Payment: $3818.48
  • Terms: 20-yr. (balloon payment April 2031) / 30-yr. amortization (2041)
  • Interest Cost: $330,000+/- between now and maturity
  • Balance Due: $318,000+/- Due April 2031

During August 2020, the Deacon Board reviewed three offers for refinancing and unanimously decided to accept a new 15-year loan that will save the church almost $105,000 in interest, get us out of debt sooner, and infuse $100,000 cash for work on the remodel. It will also allow us to pay off an additional $318,000 over the next 15 years.

We also received counsel from the Southern Idaho Ministry Network Superintendent and area Presbyter, as well as from the mortgage company, AG Financial.

The only downside to the new mortgage is a $767/month increase in the monthly payment.  In faith, we believe God will provide the increase needed to cover this expense because the benefit is so much more.

New Mortgage Offer:

  • Loan Amount: Approx. $589,500
  • Initial Interest Rate: 4.750%
  • Monthly Payment: $4,585+/-
  • Terms: 15-year term / 15-year amortization (2035)
  • Interest Cost: $235,000+/-
  • Balance Due: $0

As part of this process, we received a Brokers Opinion of Value (BOV).  The BOV is used by the lending agencies to access the value of the church property as-is.  The BOV concluded that the church building is worth $1,617,990 ($110/square foot, $110,000 per acre).  This is an increase from $1,197,593 accessed in 2010.  Therefore, our church property has increased in value $420,397 (35%) in 10 years.  This increase will be updated on the fixed assets portion of the balance sheet at the end of this year.

PRAYER

  • Will you continue to pray for us as we expect to close on the loan this week?
  • Will you pray that we will find a competitive and affordable bid for the remodel?
  • Will you pray that God will provide even more financially so that we can go above and beyond in the plans that he has for us?
  • Will you pray that unity will be sustained through the pandemic and the construction process!

ENTERING A NEW NORMAL: A PERSONAL NOTE

July 30, 2020 by Brad Murphy Leave a Comment

It looks like we are entering a new normal.  For months we thought overcoming this virus was going to be a sprint.

Instead, we now realize we are in the beginning of a marathon.

We made ‘temporary’ plans in April, May, and June.  But as July moves forward we are now making long term plans for ministry with ongoing shutdowns, physical distancing, and other precautions.

Please pray for the staff, pastors, deacons, and elders as we decide on how best to minister, connect, and serve in our community.  We need supernatural wisdom.

We have more questions than answers about how things will go.

  • Who will be attending services in the future?
  • Will we have volunteers to serve in kids and youth?
  • If schools require masks, will masks make kids ministry safe too?
  • How do we organize serving our community through outreach and missions?
  • Will community events even be possible?
  • Is it better to meet in-person with masks or online without them?
  • Will people miss being together and want to meet in-person no matter what?
  • How will our church building continue to serve the needs of our church post COVID?
  • How will our remodeling plans help?
  • How can we make online ministry powerful, personal, spirit-filled, and community centered? How do we blend online and in-person ministry?
  • AND MANY MORE…

The answer I do have is from the lips of Jesus,

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20, ESV

He is with us.  We do not need to fear.  He will be with us always.

Jesus also promised that His church would prevail.

I believe he has prepared us for what is ahead.  He will empower us and lead us to do his work.

In unity we will be able to continue our mission of HELPING PEOPLE EXPERIENCE JESUS IN A LIFE-CHANGING WAY.

Please pray for us.

reBUILD in the Face of Distraction

March 6, 2016 by Brad Murphy Leave a Comment

The story of Nehemiah is the story of a person called by God, who knew the mission, and understood the honor that his life could bring to God. In the process God used Nehemiah to reBUILD a city and inspire a people.

When God puts it in your heart to reBUILD your life, your family, or your community, you can be sure that the enemy of God will use anything and everything he can to stop you from renewing hope. In today’s sermon from Nehemiah 6:1-4, we learn about the enemy’s tactic of distraction and how to stand firm.

And I sent messengers to them, saying,
“I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.
Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?” – Nehemiah 6:3

 Distraction brings ___confusion________

Confusion is ____unbelief_____ that fails to ____prioritize______ God.

  1. Not every ____invitation______ is a reason for _____celebration______ | Nehemiah 6:1-3

Identify Distractions by Asking Four Questions:

  • Who is inviting you?
  • Where are they inviting you?
  • What is there motivation?
  • Why should the work you are doing stop? Or should it?

1 Chronicles 8:12 | 2 Corinthians 11:12-15 | 1 Peter 5:8-9 | John 10:10 | Matthew 7:13-14

  1. Distraction is a ____constant____ enemy | Nehemiah 6:4

Luke 9:51-56 | Hebrews 12:1-3 | James 1:2-18 | Romans 5:3-5

DETERMINATION BRINGS ___clarity___. CLARITY IS BELIEF

THAT WHAT GOD HAS ____started____ HE WILL ____finish___.
