December 7, 2013 by Brad Murphy

From the Convoy of Hope website:

Convoy of Hope teams continue to distribute immediate relief to families in remote areas of the Philippines. Our teams in the field are reporting back that we are reaching many of the hardest hit areas with food and supplies. In addition to locally purchased food, water filtration units and other disaster relief supplies, we have distributed 566,182 meals to families reeling from Typhoon Haiyan.

Some of the areas recently supplied include: Iloilo, Panay, Concepcion, Danao Danao Island, Talisay Island, Tapas, Jamindan, Daanbantayan, Bantayan Island, Carnaza Island, Mambusao, Altvas, Coron, Roxas City, Leutod Leutod, Bogo City, San Remegio, Sitio Leonor, Tagumpay, Sitio Pali, Barangay 6, Sitio Malbato and Barangay Bintuan.

Your generous offering on November 24, has been sent to Convoy of Hope.  Thank your for continuing to keep the relief teams, the Filipino Church, and our missionaries in prayer.

If you haven’t already taken the opportunity to give, please send a check to Eagle LifeChurch, place it in the giving bag Sunday, or give directly to Convoy of Hope.  You can be sure that your gift will go to those most in need.

December 3, 2013 by Brad Murphy

This entry is part 3 of 7 in the series That Christmas Feeling

Don’t you love the feeling of Christmas?

Cheer, wonder, excitement, generosity.

This year, our whole church, will be taking a journey through the feelings of the First Christmas through the Eyes of those who were there.  Our children will be having their own special experience at LifeKids, in Professor Playtime’s Christmas Shop of Wonders.

The Good News is Great Joy

That first Christmas the Angel’s announced the Good News, that Jesus was born, to bring Great Joy to all the people.  Who did the angels share the most important announcement in the history of the world with? Shepherds!  And not only to these shepherds who were living out in the fields, but it was the night watch, the graveyard crew.

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. ”
– Luke 2:10-11 | NIV

Taking cues from the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, Pastor Brad discusses 10 lessons about the Good News of Great Joy!

  1. The Joy of the Gospel is Sometimes Forgotten
  2. The Joy of the Gospel is Good News
  3. The Joy of the Gospel is Preached
  4. The Joy of the Gospel is Received & Lived
  5. The Joy of the Gospel is of First Importance
  6. The Joy of the Gospel is for the Sin Problem
  7. The Joy of the Gospel is Unchanging
  8. The Joy of the Gospel is all about Jesus
  9. The Joy of the Gospel is for the Religion Problem
  10. The Joy of the Gospel is on a Mission

There are two enemies of the Gospel, sin & religion.  It was the religious people who killed Jesus. It was for sinning people that Jesus died.  The Gospel is a cure for both the sin problem & the religion problem.

A High-Fidelity Man is True to the Original

Like the evolution of home audio equipment went from low-fi to high-fi, so we can become High-Fidelity people.  Through the story of Joseph, the man chosen by God to raise his child, we can learn about the Loyalty of a Righteous Man, who is true to the original.  On this Remember the Poor Sunday, may God lead us to be generous in our care for the Poor.

“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.”
– Matthew 1:24 | NIV

A High-Fidelity Man or Woman:

  1. Understands Our Story is HisStory
  2. Is Righteous
  3. Hears from God for their Family
  4. Knows life is about God’s Plan
  5. Is a Person of Action

Be inspired to change your vision, and see that God has given you an opportunity to hear from Him for your family, and take action to bring Jesus to your world!

Courageous Faith Comes from Surrender to God’s Care

Like a soldier on the battlefield, the courage to stay in the battle and fight for the mission, comes from surrender to the care and orders of your commanding officer.  On this Veterans Day weekend we start our newest sermon series, That Christmas Feeling, with the topic Courageous Faith.

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.”
– Luke 1:38 | NIV

Courageous Faith:

  1. Starts with Fear,
  2. Grows with Revelation, and
  3. Culminates with Surrender to God’s Care

Overcome fear, hunger for revelation, and rest in surrender to Jesus through the inspiration of this message.
