21 Days of Hope

We are so excited to announce the 21 Days of Hope Easter Experience. This is a 21 Day challenge our church is doing leading up to Easter that you are going to love. We believe God is going to use these three weeks to both bring hope to you and bring hope through you! It’s going to grow your faith and show others see the difference God can make in their life.

Here’s how the 21 Days of Hope works. Go ahead and pull out your phone. Now text the word Hope to (208) 352-6002. You’ll get a response with a link to a simple form to fill out. It takes less than 60 seconds and you’re all set.

Once you’re in, you will receive a daily email as well as a few text messages throughout the week. Each step along the way will include the following:

Either a “Hope To You” or a “Hope Through You” action step.
A theme: Devotional, Share Your Faith Story, Social, Generosity, Minister
And a difficulty rating of that step

Each day the goals are designed to help you and others experience God’s love in some way. Some things will involve your social media or texting and others involve sharing your faith story. The idea over the next 3 weeks is to help your friends, family and acquaintances see how amazing God is!

Think of it like we’re all going on a digital missions trip together as a church. We believe this will have a huge impact on our area as we all jump on board.

Today is the Day of Salvation

How God used Italian to save a New York Catholic.

I was recently chatting with a person in our church who shared with me a wonderful story about how God used them to lead their aunt to salvation in Christ.

A common theme in conversations with people in our church, is the deep anxiety of their heart that a person in their life or family is not saved.

We have prayed for them for years, and nothing.

God is still at work.

Even when we don’t see it. God is working.

Even when we’ve given up hope. God is working.

Even when we think that someone is beyond the reach of God. God is working.

Here is the story of “Salvation in Italian.”

My Sicilian family resides in upstate New York. I was raised Catholic but praise be to God on December 16, 1978 I came to know Jesus as Lord and Savior of my life!

Over the past several years, I have shared the gospel with my elderly aunt. She is the matriarch of our family and a true gem! Her responses have always been, that she believed in God but did not know that Jesus was God. She was still clinging to her ideas of praying to dead saints, including Jesus’ mother Mary, and placing priests and the pope in high positions.

After sharing with her many times over the years, I felt compelled one day to call her and try to convince her to accept Jesus as her Savior. Unfortunately, she resisted and felt that she was in good shape the way that she was. From then on I would only share with her about the things of the Lord in general and what He has done in my life.

When I hung up the phone the Lord said to me,
“This is the day of salvation“!

On Saturday morning August 15, 2020 (in the middle of the global COVID-19 pandemic), my older sister called me at 6 AM to tell me that my aunt wasn’t doing well and that she just wanted me to know. My aunt turned 87 the day before. When I hung up the phone the Lord said to me “this is the day of salvation“!

I knew I had to talk to her and share the gospel once again in hopes that she would accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

I sought God’s counsel about how to approach her and He reminded me how much she has enjoyed the letters I’ve sent her written in Italian. So that was my clue to give her the gospel in Italian! I got on Google and translated the sinners prayer into the Italian language.

When I called her we chatted a bit about how she wasn’t feeling well but it wasn’t dire. I asked if I could pray for her and she said yes, and then I told her about the Lord and asked her if she wanted to pray the sinner’s prayer, repeating after me.

She said, “Yes.”

She went right into it without one ounce of resistance! It was beautiful! Then I told her about how Heaven is now her home.

God had been working on my aunt’s heart all through the years. When the time came she was ready. She even revealed to me how she now realized she could go straight to God in prayer instead of to a confessional, and that the priests and the pope were just people like us.

Little did I know when I went to bed the night before that the next morning the angels in heaven would be rejoicing over the salvation of my aunt!

ENTERING A NEW NORMAL: A PERSONAL NOTE

It looks like we are entering a new normal. For months we thought overcoming this virus was going to be a sprint.

Instead, we now realize we are in the beginning of a marathon.

We made ‘temporary’ plans in April, May, and June. But as July moves forward we are now making long term plans for ministry with ongoing shutdowns, physical distancing, and other precautions.

Please pray for the staff, pastors, deacons, and elders as we decide on how best to minister, connect, and serve in our community. We need supernatural wisdom.

We have more questions than answers about how things will go.

Who will be attending services in the future?
Will we have volunteers to serve in kids and youth?
If schools require masks, will masks make kids ministry safe too?
How do we organize serving our community through outreach and missions?
Will community events even be possible?
Is it better to meet in-person with masks or online without them?
Will people miss being together and want to meet in-person no matter what?
How will our church building continue to serve the needs of our church post COVID?
How will our remodeling plans help?
How can we make online ministry powerful, personal, spirit-filled, and community centered? How do we blend online and in-person ministry?
AND MANY MORE…

The answer I do have is from the lips of Jesus,

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20, ESV

He is with us. We do not need to fear. He will be with us always.

Jesus also promised that His church would prevail.

I believe he has prepared us for what is ahead. He will empower us and lead us to do his work.

In unity we will be able to continue our mission of HELPING PEOPLE EXPERIENCE JESUS IN A LIFE-CHANGING WAY.

Call to Prayer | Pray714

The Lord is calling the church to pray and trust the promise of God.

The Elders, Pastors, Staff, and Deacons have all confirmed that this is a season of intercession. It is a time, once again, for us to pray for the peace and prosperity of America (Jeremiah 29:7). We will pray for the promise of God to be fulfilled in our lifetime. We ask God to HEAL OUR LAND.

When Israel was facing civil unrest and a divided nation, God said to them,

[I]f my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)

The ultimate healing of the land will not occur until the whole earth is made new. However, there is a scriptural and historical pattern for us to humble ourselves and pray to God for healing in America.

I am praying for a revival to sweep our nation from sea to shining sea, the land of the free and the home of the brave.

How to Prayer

For this reason, I am asking you to join me by consecrating yourself to pray daily at 7:14 a.m. and/or 7:14 p.m from July 14 (7/14) to November 3, 2020. I will not script your prayers. The Holy Spirit will give you words to pray and groans too deep for words.

Prayer Focus

There are three broad areas of prayer that we feel called to interceed for.

HEAL = Pray for US Healthcare
OUR = Pray for the US Church & Eagle LifeChurch
LAND = Pray for US Politics & Culture

A Promise You Can Trust

Additionally, we will be in a sermon series on the book of Joshua this Sunday called “A Promise You Can Trust.” We will study the miraculous work of God to give His people the promised land. We wait for that glorious day when God makes all things new. God is preparing us to occupy the land. We are set apart for His promise. He will give us the strength and courage to face the enemies and see the walls come down.
