Spiritual water is available for us today
Water is a necessary staple of life. Here on the edge of the desert we can appreciate the life that water produces for us. When I first came to this area back in the early 1960’s, the highways east were nothing but sagebrush, rattlesnakes and lava. Nothing spoiled the gray and tan colors of the desert. It is a different drive today. There are still areas that have not changed much, but in other places, what a difference! There is lush green growth nestled in beautiful valleys. There are big circles that are covered with crops of one kind and another. Fifty years ago life was dull and drab in the desert; today it is filled with color and life. What caused this to change? Water! Good old H2O. Water made the difference. Without water, life is tough and fragile and vegetation is pretty much brown in color. With water, everything changes. The appearance changes, the ability to sustain life changes, the financial advantages of the land change; all in all the change is for the good – just because water is present. We also need water in our own spiritual lives. Not what comes out of a faucet, but that living water which flows from the throne of God. Jesus spoke of that water to the Samaritan lady at Jacob’s well. That spiritual water is available for us today. It will change our drab, worthless and colorless lives into lives that sparkle with life, intensity and purpose. Jesus told the woman at the well, “Drink of my water.” Bring your cup to Jesus and let Him fill it with His eternal water!
