Brightest in the Dark

March 10, 2014 by Brad Murphy

This sermon is part 4 of 4 in the Foc|US: Vision for Life

Light the Way.

God has given us a vision to build a community of faith, who follow Jesus and tend to the mission of God: Light the Way, Learn the Truth, Love the Life.

This week Pastor Bob, directs our attention on Christ who is the light of the world.  You will be encouraged to find a place outside the church to minister and shine the light.

Brightest in the Dark

  • We make every effort to take the light of Jesus out of our church building and into the darkest places in our community. We are engaged in our community, through ministries of faith and compassion, telling the story of eternal life in Christ. Our light will shine in dark places so that the God colors of our world will be seen.
  • Study it! Genesis 1:1-5; John 1:1-13; 2 Corinthians 4:1-6; Matthew 5:14-16; Acts 1:8; Luke 15:1-7 & Matthew 18:10-14

Jesus Compassion

January 2, 2014 by Brad Murphy

This sermon is part 7 of 7 in the That Christmas Feeling

Don’t you love the feeling of Christmas?

Cheer, wonder, excitement, generosity.

This year, our whole church, will be taking a journey through the feelings of the First Christmas through the Eyes of those who were there.  Our children will be having their own special experience at LifeKids, in Professor Playtime’s Christmas Shop of Wonders.

Jesus Compassion: ReMoving the Mess

The days following Christmas are often the messiest.  The tree branches droop, the water in the stand is rotten.  The living room floor is covered in wrapping paper and torn packages.  The kitchen is full of dirty dishes, and the counters covered in flour and other debris.

The first Christmas probably wasn’t as silent and picturesque as our nativities and carols imply.  Jesus came into a messy situation.  His was an unplanned pregnancy that nearly led to divorce.  His poor parents had to make an unexpected trip at the time she was about to deliver.  He was born in a dirty manger, received ominous prophesies, and was nearly executed by a homicidal king, but escaped to Egypt just in time.

This description may sound similar to your family or life, but the good news is Jesus isn’t afraid of your mess.

This week we look at the life of King David, and how to allow Jesus to ReMove the Mess:

  • How a Mess Grows
  • Recognizing We are in a Mess
  • Repenting of our Mess
  • Jesus Replaces our Mess

From Mess to Masterpiece

You will be encouraged to give Jesus your mess and accept his mercy and grace in it’s place, as he chisels your life to become his great masterpiece.

Some of the areas recently supplied include: Iloilo, Panay, Concepcion, Danao Danao Island, Talisay Island, Tapas, Jamindan, Daanbantayan, Bantayan Island, Carnaza Island, Mambusao, Altvas, Coron, Roxas City, Leutod Leutod, Bogo City, San Remegio, Sitio Leonor, Tagumpay, Sitio Pali, Barangay 6, Sitio Malbato and Barangay Bintuan.

Your generous offering on November 24, has been sent to Convoy of Hope.  Thank your for continuing to keep the relief teams, the Filipino Church, and our missionaries in prayer.

One Day to Feed the World

November 3, 2013 by Brad Murphy

Remember the Poor

We take the opportunity every year to open our hearts of compassion and give generously to Remember the Poor on the last Sunday of November.

This year we will be bringing canned foods for Eagle Food Bank, Christmas shoe boxes for Native American Ministries, and money for Convoy of Hope.

ONE DAY_Color_Blue-BlackONE DAY to Feed the World is Convoy of Hope’s annual campaign to transform the everyday lives of kids around the world.

Playing, good times with friends, learning, and dreaming big dreams are the hallmarks of a great childhood — nutritious food fuels such childhoods. Our desire is to see kids lives transformed as we promote healthy children, and community, sustainability and development.

It’s simple — Work ONE DAY, give ONE DAY’S wage to help provide food, clean water and other life-giving supplies.

One Day to Feed the World

How to Give?

  • Bring your canned food to Eagle LifeChurch on Sunday or during office hours Tuesday & Thursday 10am-5pm, any time during the month of November.
  • Bring a Christmas shoe box, wrapped and ready (instructions here), to Eagle LifeChurch anytime during the month of November. Please put $5 per box, for shipping, in offering envelope.
  • Bring your check or cash to worship service, Sunday, November 24, and see how your small gift of one day can change everyday for a starving child.
  • You can also give online, by making Eagle LifeChurch a vendor on your bank Bill Pay System, account number One Day.
