Infuse | Kindness

September 23, 2013 by Brad Murphy

This sermon is part 4 of 9 in the Infuse | Galatians 5:22-24

We are compelled by God’s LOVE and the FREEDOM offered in Jesus to infuse our relationships with the mind of Christ.  As the Spirit of God directs our life, we take on the CHARACTER of the Spirit.  This Fall we will ask God to INFUSE in us the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control of Christ through the Holy Spirit!

Kindness | Compassion in Action

This week Pastor Brad discusses the big idea, Kindness is Compassion in Action.  Jesus Christ demonstrated his kindness toward us, not only with words and understanding, but in action.  In the same way, we demonstrate kindness, because Christ’s Spirit in us causes us to bear this fruit.

  1. Kindness is willing to take compassionate action
  2. Kindness is willing to take a risk
  3. Kindness is willing to put other first
  4. Kindness is willing to pay the price
  5. Kindness is willing to finish what it starts
  6. Kindness is willing to glorify God

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
– Luke 10:25-28

Pray Now! American Pastor Imprisoned in Iran

December 19, 2012 by Brad Murphy

Fox News broke news today that Treasure Valley resident and American citizen, Pastor Saeed Abedini, has been imprisoned for months in Iran because of his Christian faith.  Pastor Abedini, his wife, Naghmeh, and two children live in Idaho.  Pastor Abedini returned to his native Iran to start an orphanage and to visit his family.  During his visit, he was harassed by Iranian officials and eventually detained without being charged.  He remains in prison today.

The American Center for Law and Justice announced today that it is representing the American based family of Pastor Abedini, and is launching an international campaign to pressure Iran for his immediate release.

Pastor Brad Murphy, is calling on the community of faith at Eagle LifeChurch, Eagle, Idaho to pray fervently for Pastor Saeed Abedini and his family.  His life is in danger, his faith is being challenged, and his family is being threatened.  Please pray for safety and for Pastor Abedini’s immediate release.

The Assemblies of God, (www.ag.org) and American Center for Law and Justice (www.ACLJ.org) have also release statements in regards to this unfolding story.

Faithful with a Few

March 29, 2012 by Brad Murphy

Faithful with a Few

By Brad Murphy, Lead Pastor Eagle LifeChurch

Over the past weeks, God has been bringing newcomers through the doors and into the lives of the church family at Eagle LifeChurch.  Some have attended a morning worship service; some have not.

We have met those who have a church home and those who don’t.  We’ve met those who think they have God and religion all figured out and those who don’t have a clue.  We have met those who are mad at their previous church because they were too superficial, or too big, or because they were ignored or hurt.  We have met those with no previous church experience.  God is bringing us just what we asked for – hurting people.

Jesus tells a story in Matthew 25 & Luke 19 to help His followers understand the concepts of the Kingdom of God.  In His story, a master who is going on a journey leaves one servant with five measures of provision, one servant with two measures, and one servant with just one measure; each according to his ability.

Each of these servants-of-the-master invested in and took care of the provision of the master.  When the master returned, the one with five measures had gained five more.  The one with two measures had increased it to four.  The servant with one did nothing.  He buried what the master had given Him in fear that he would lose it and be punished by the master.

Each of the people God has put in your life and has brought to Eagle LifeChurch are a measure of God’s provision.  He has already assessed our ability and rationed out the provisions.  Will you be faithful to develop and grow the ones He has given you or will you burry them in fear that you will lose them and be punished by our Master?

Eagle LifeChurch family, and Christians everywhere, we must be faithful with the people He has put in our lives.  This past Sunday we had three visitors, all who need a church family.  Will you take care of them, nurture them, and grow them into six? Will you call them, take them to lunch, or invite them over for dinner?  Will you bother answering the phone when they call, or risk getting involved when things get messy?  Will you welcome them into our family?

If you do, Jesus said that the Master will look on us and say, “‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:23, NIV)

The true test of whether Eagle LifeChurch will have a lasting impact on the city of Eagle, the state of Idaho, the United States, and the World, is in how we are Faithful with a Few.

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

January 19, 2012 by Brad Murphy

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, January 22, 2012

Author: Pastor Brad Murphy, Lead Pastor

Imagine a community of faith that stands in the gap for those who are desperate and need a hand up. Imagine a congregation that is characterized by their love and care for those who are neglected, tossed aside, and abandoned. Imagine a church that offers options, instead of judgment, for women who have made a mistake, been raped, or had an accidental pregnancy. Imagine a church family full of foster children and adopted children who have been rescued from the possibility of abortion.

Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, more than 40 million women have made the difficult choice to terminate their pregnancy. They feel alone, judged, and they fear God. Let’s be a church that is welcoming, affirming, caring, and that helps these lonely women through the difficult challenges of an unplanned pregnancy.

Would you join us in praying for the victims of abortions both the women and the unborn children in our community?
