New Leadership

By Pastor Brad Murphy
Acts 1:12-26

New things smell new.  New things look new.  New things also need some-getting-used-to, because new things mean change.

God has new things planned for you.  Things that you may have heard about, but haven’t experienced.  Things that may terrify or excite you.

Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.
– Isaiah 43:19

At the conclusion of Jesus’ earthly ministry He commissioned a band of followers to carry the message of His Kingdom to the farthest reaches of the earth.  He promised them power to witness.  He promised them victory.  He promised them Himself.

In the sermon series, NEW, we will study all the wonderful, powerful, and difficult things the disciple Peter, and other disciples, experienced in the days, weeks, and years after Jesus resurrection.

Listen now to this message from the Series NEW!

Infuse | Patience

September 30, 2013 by Brad Murphy Leave a Comment

This entry is part 5 of 9 in the series Infuse | Galatians 5:22-24

We are compelled by God’s LOVE and the FREEDOM offered in Jesus to infuse our relationships with the mind of Christ.  As the Spirit of God directs our life, we take on the CHARACTER of the Spirit.  This Fall we will ask God to INFUSE in us the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control of Christ through the Holy Spirit!

Waiting Patiently for the Fulfillment of the Promise

This week our Ministry Intern from Northwest University Southern Idaho, tackles the topic of patience.  Kiel knows this fruit well, because of the personal journey to seeing God’s call fulfilled in his life.  Hear his compelling story, and relate it to yours, through the story of the life of Joseph.  Through this encouraging message you will learn how the Holy Spirit will help you to Wait Patiently for the Fulfillment of the Promise.

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
– Hebrews 10:36 (ESV)

  1. The Promise Given (Promise)
  2. Waiting for the Promise (Patience)
  3. The Promise Fulfilled (Praise)

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
– Romans 5:3-5 (ESV)

Infusion vs. Transfusion

How can we have peace with God and with others?  By welcoming the salvation of God and experiencing the reconciliation offered in Christ.  This weeks big idea, A Peace Infusion From a Sin Transfusion reminds us that Jesus Christ, the one who knew no sin, became sin for us.  God transfused our sin upon Himself so that he could infuse his peace unto us.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
– 2 Corinthians 5:21

That great exchange, brings peace to the weary, hope to the worn down, and life to the complacent.

Taking Victory Over Weeds

June 29, 2012 by Brad Murphy Leave a Comment

I continue to be in wonder of our God who gives victory, peace, and assurance in the midst of trouble.  Jesus declares to us in John 16:33 , “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  Later, in Revelation 12:11 He says about the saints gathered at the victory over Satan, “They overcame the accuser by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

In Mark 7 we read, “Jesus…taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: ‘Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain… Like seed sown among thorns, some people hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.’”

We cannot shrink back from trouble.  We must advance against our opposition, against the deceitfulness of wealth and the desire of earthly things, to bring down the enemy.  Jesus has given you authority here on earth to have victory.  Take up the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and use it today.
