Week 3 – Living Hope Series

Today @EagleLifeChurch, Pastor Brad continues our Easter to Pentecost series “Living Hope.”
This is week two in the 9-week series. This series focuses on experiencing HOPE in the midst of life’s difficulties and struggles. In our culture, people are subjected to (surrounded by) dying hope. Hope has been replaced with hurt, abuse, trauma, lies, and despair.
During this series, we learn to find our LIVING HOPE in a savior who has struggled and suffered, who has been sabotaged and betrayed, who was beaten and buried, but he claimed the final victory over dying-hope by rising from the grave and inviting us to experience living hope.
In today’s message, you will build your life on the rock that cannot be shaken. We learn to have hope in the cornerstone of life.

Living Hope for Living Stones
SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 2:4-10; Isaiah 28:16; Psalm 62:2; Psalm 118:22; Romans 9:33; Romans 10:11; Isaiah 8:14-15; Ephesians 2:19-22; Matthew 7:24-27 (ESV)
As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it stands in Scripture:
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
1 Peter 2:4-6 (ESV)
a cornerstone chosen and precious,
and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
- The CHOSEN Stone (1 Peter 2:4-6; Isaiah 28:16; Psalm 62:2)
- The REJECTED Stone (1 Peter 2:7; Psalm 118:22)
- The ROCK of OFFENSE (1 Peter 2:8; Romans 9:33, 10:11; Isaiah 8:14-15)
- The LIVING STONES (1 Peter 2:5, 9-10; Ephesians 2:19-22)
So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,
“The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”8 and
“A stone of stumbling,
and a rock of offense.”They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
