How to Be a Good Fellow

that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:3 (ESV) Emphasis Added

Biblical Fellowship

  1. Fellowship with the Trinity
    • Fellowship with the Father (1 John 1:1-3)
    • Fellowship with the Son (1 Corinthians 1:9, Philippians 3:8-11)
    • Fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14, Philippians 2:1-11)
  2. Fellowship with Other Believers
    • Right Hand of Fellowship (Galatians 2:9)
    • Contributing to those in Need (Romans 15:26; 2 Corinthians 8:4, 9:13; Philippians 1:5)
    • Operating in Your Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 12:12-14)

How to Enhance Fellowship at Eagle LifeChurch

  1. Love one another with Christlike Compassion (John 13:34-35, 15:12, Hebrews 13:1)
  2. Cultivate humility that seeks to honor others (Philippians 2:3-5)
  3. Bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2)
  4. Share material blessings with brother’s and sister’s in need (2 Corinthians 9:13, Acts 2:44-45)
  5. Tenderly correct a sinning saint (Galatians 6:1)
  6. Resolve Conflict according to Matthew 18:15-20
  7. Comfort a fellow believer in times of suffering (1 Corinthians 12:26)
  8. Celebrate with a fellow believer in times of rejoicing (1 Corinthians 12:26)
  9. Pray for the saints in the Spirit without ceasing (Ephesians 6:18)

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 (ESV)

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need

How to Make (be) a Disciple

Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:25-26 (ESV) Emphasis Added

Examples of Disciple Making in the New Testament:

  • Acts 14:211-22 | conversion and teaching
  • Titus 2:4 | older women train younger women
  • 2 Timothy 2:2 | Paul trained Timothy to train others to train others
  • Ephesians 6:4 | Fathers train children
  • Matthew 28:19-20 | teach everything that Jesus commanded
  • Hebrews 3:13 | exhort one another daily
  • Hebrews 10:24-25 | stir one another up, meet together, encourage one another
  • 1 Peter 4:10 | use spiritual gifts to serve one another
  • Acts 18:24-26 | Aquila and Priscilla explained the way of God more accurately to Apollos
  • Acts 11:26 | Disciples first called “Christians” (little Christs)

Make Disciples

  1. EVERY CHRISTIAN should make disciples by helping people to trust and follow Jesus;
  2. EVERY CHRISTIAN should make disciples by helping, teaching, training, and encouraging other believers to grow more mature and Christlike; and
  3. EVERY CHRISTIAN should be getting help for themselves from others to grow and mature in faith.

Jesus Says,

  1. COME to Me (Luke 14:26)
  2. CARRY your Cross (Luke 14:27-32)
  3. GIVE UP everything (Luke 14:33-35)

So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. 34 “Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? 35 It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Luke 14:33-35 (ESV)

Respond by completing the CONNECT form below.

We Worship Together

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:19-22 (ESV)

How to Worship Together

  1. ENTER IN with Confidence (v. 19-20)
  2. DRAW NEAR in Faith (v. 21-22)
  3. HOLD FAST to the Promise (v. 23)
  4. STIR each other to Love (v. 24)
  5. BE TOGETHER in Unity (v. 25)

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:23-25 (ESV)

Next Steps – How to Get Involved at Eagle LifeChurch

September 18, 2017 by Brad Murphy

A common questions that new comers ask is, “How do I get involved at Eagle LifeChurch?”

It’s a great question and so important for our growing church.  We average 5-10 visitors every Sunday, so here is how we help people move from visitor to member.

There are three steps of involvement at Eagle LifeChurch.

THE FIRST STEP IS REGULAR ATTENDANCE.

Join us every Sunday for Worship Service and join a LifeGroup.

LifeGroups are a great way to get connected to others and grow in faith.  New LifeGroups start each September and January.  It’s almost never a bad time to jump in.  There is an online list of active groups at www.EagleLifeChurch.org/LifeGroups.

Regular attendance is a great start, but it’s not the destination.

* If you are new to faith and would like to learn more about following Jesus, receiving forgiveness, and experiencing God,
please email us so we can help you on your journey.

THE SECOND STEP IS SERVING.

Serving at Eagle LifeChurch is a great way to work with others and help people experience God in a life-changing way.  Currently, we are looking for volunteers to serve in hospitality, community outreach, children’s ministry, grounds keeping, and worship arts (music and media). If you are interested in serving as a volunteer you will need to complete and return the Volunteer Application provided online at https://eaglelifechurch.org/volunteer-application-safe-church/.  Then we can get together and chat about a best fit for you.

In addition to serving at LifeChurch, we have several volunteer opportunities in the community.  We partner with BSU Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, Path Pregnancy Clinic, Boise Girls Academy home for at-risk teens, and INsideOut Cares (a local effort to end Human Trafficking in the Treasure Valley and across Idaho).  Contact Us if you are interested in any of these and we can get you connected.

THE THIRD STEP IS CHURCH MEMBERSHIP.

Church Membership is offered to those who have been active in serving and supporting Eagle LifeChurch for at least six months and wish to participate in the annual Membership Meetings that shape the future of the church.  Members are invested in the mission and organization of Eagle LifeChurch.  They vote on leadership, direction, and major initiatives.  They review and accept annual ministry and financial reports.  Each spring we host a Membership Information meeting for those who are interested.

MORE INFORMATION

If you would like more information about getting involved or would like to talk with a pastor about a life-changing experience with God, please contact us.
